Interviews

An interview with Warren from the writer Kent Holloway
"Remo's name was a cold calculation on my part. I started thinking about great character names and what is the greatest of all? Sherlock Holmes obviously, so great that you don't even need to mention his surname...just Sherlock will do and everybody in the world knows who you mean. I went looking for a name like that...two syllables, easy to remember, uncommon, and on a map of Italy, I found San Remo, shouted 'Eureka,' and knew we were home."

Mania Interview with Warren Murphy
"I'm working on 'Legacy' with a terrific young writer named Jerry Welch. Jerry's been a long time Destroyer reader and friend for a long time and for all that time, he's been pushing for this story about Remo's kid. He thought and I agree that it's a way to reboot the whole Destroyer concept for a whole new generation."

Guerrilla Wordfare Interview with Warren Murphy
"Generally, I felt raw murderous anger because most of the time, our books and our ideas and our plots and our characters were simply stolen without us being paid. Dick Sapir once tried to put an ad in the Hollywood Reporter announcing our new Destroyer: 'Be the first to buy it today so you can be the first to steal it tomorrow.' He was disappointed that the ad never appeared."

Guerrilla Wordfare Interview with Gerald Welch, co-author of the Legacy series
"Oh, [Warren's] been reading my stuff longer than just about anyone. He read the original crap I had written and let me know that it sucked. But more importantly, he told me WHY it sucked and what I could do to make it better. I've been listening to him ever since."

Objectif Cinema Interview with Warren Murphy
"Out of the blue one day, [Clint Eastwood] called me from Hollywood and asked me if I had ever read The Eiger Sanction. I told him no. He asked me if I had ever written a screenplay. I told him no. He said, 'We're doing really well, aren't we?' Then he asked me if I could write a screenplay. I said yes, and he said, 'Read The Eiger Sanction and see if you can write a script for it.'"

Tanja Segal Interviews Gerald Welch, co-author of the Legacy series
"I never write in chronological order. That's how I avoid 'writer's block.' If I get bored or stumped on one part of the book, I'll just work on another part of the book, or another book in the series entirely, or, since I do all my own artwork, just work on design."

Guerrilla Wordfare Author Spotlight on Donna Courtois
"Sometimes I feel like I'm running a marathon when I'm writing, with each chapter as a leg of the race. Some sections I'm racing smoothly and surely, others I stumble or have a hard time navigating. There's a real satisfaction to finishing a first draft and seeing it all written down."
